Willis Ayieko: Postmortem report shows Wells Fargo manager died of head injuries
Following the grim discovery, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of a suspect, Victor Ouma Okoth, on Monday night, October 28.
Okoth, also a resident of Siaya, was apprehended at a rental property in Dandora Phase IV, Nairobi, where he had been hiding.
Investigators revealed that before renting the Dandora property, Okoth allegedly withdrew over KSh 100,000 from Ayieko’s mobile money account at two M-Pesa shops within the area.
It is believed he used the funds to secure the rental and purchase additional items. Neighbours reported that Okoth had been a new, unfamiliar presence in the estate.
“The day he came here, we knew he was a visitor. Everything was new. Yesterday is when we saw government officials come here,” said a neighbour.
As the investigation continues, detectives are focusing on DNA evidence collected during the postmortem to establish a firm link between Okoth and the murder of Ayieko.
