‘What are you hiding?’ Cleric questions silence on Shakahola report

Reverend Tony Kiamah has questioned the government’s silence on the Shakahola commission report, saying its contents remain hidden from the public despite the gravity of the tragedy.

Speaking on Spice FM, the River of God Church lead pastor criticized both the state and the church for their silence in the face of rising cultism and impunity.

His remarks follow reports of a suspected cult in Kilifi County, where DCI officers in Malindi were granted permission to exhume remains on a five-acre piece of land. So far, authorities have recovered the remains of an adult male and two skulls.

Kiamah noted that President William Ruto had formed a commission to investigate the Shakahola massacre, but its findings have never been released.

“What are they hiding?” he posed. “What is it they were hiding from body 40 onwards when they kicked out the media and the Red Cross?”

He also questioned the repeated arrest and release of controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie, describing his actions as “witchcraft and human sacrifice within the church.”

“Every time he had been arrested, why did they let him go?” he asked.

Kiamah claimed rogue preachers were being shielded by politically powerful individuals.

“By the time the DCI was going to Ezekiel, they had facts on the ground that this man was involved. But a few weeks later, he is released. These guys are intertwined with power—they are untouchable.”

He warned that any attempt by the government to regulate religious institutions would be ineffective unless churches took the lead in cleansing their own ranks.

“One of the primary functions of the priest is to keep the king accountable. But when the priest is eating at the king’s table, he loses the ability to speak to the king,” Kiamah said.

“The government cannot regulate the church. The church must regulate itself.”
