Kenya’s political scene is shifting once again, as a new alliance of political heavyweights positions itself as the force to beat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
In an unexpected show of unity, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’ joined former DP Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and former Public Service CS Justin Muturi met in Nairobi today, declaring themselves the team that will “liberate Kenyans” from Ruto’s administration.
The five were not alone. Joining them were Eugene Wamalwa, Mithika Linturi, and Mukhisa Kituyi, forming a nine-member team bound by a common goal: to unseat Ruto in 2027.

In a post on X, Gachagua stated: “The team to liberate Kenya gets bigger every day. Welcome, Fred Matiang’i, Muturi and Mithika Linturi. You are on the right side of history.”
Echoing his sentiment, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka alluded that they have what it takes to ‘save’ the country.

The emerging coalition, still in its formative stages, has already sparked talks of a formidable force.
Their meeting comes a few days after Matiang’i jetted back into the country to revive his presidential ambitions.
Gachagua and Linturi recently met to discuss party formation, while Karua has already rebranded into the People’s Liberation Party.
Kalonzo and Wamalwa, too, have hinted at major political overhauls ahead of 2027, signaling that the race may be tighter, louder, and far more unpredictable than some imagined.
