Following this proposal, the senator claimed that approximately 60% of Kenyans support his bill.

Did Cherargei say 40% of Kenyans oppose his bill?

While addressing the Senate on Tuesday, October 29, Cherargei claimed that only 40% of the country’s population opposes the extension of the presidential term.

He also claimed that nearly 500,000 Kenyans responded to the bill he presented through the Senate’s email.

“And Kenyans are 60, 40. As of now, 60% of Kenyans support my bill, while 40% oppose it. In terms of SMS, Whats App, Facebook updates, and X,” Cherargei asserted.

He also criticized the issue of data privacy, stating that many accessed his phone numbers and contacted him after he tabled the bill. Cherargei noted that some praised him while others insulted him for making the proposal.
