Ruto departs for one-day official visit to Kampala

President William Ruto is set to leave today for a one-day official visit to Kampala, Uganda, to attend the African Union (AU) Extraordinary Summit on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the President will use the summit to advance Kenya’s efforts in food security, job creation, poverty reduction, and sustainable growth.

“The President will also highlight the alignment of CAADP with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, reaffirming the country’s commitment to agricultural transformation,” the statement read in part.

Ruto is also scheduled to meet his Ugandan counterpart, President Yoweri Museveni on the sidelines of the summit.

The two leaders, who met just over a week ago in Siaya County, will discuss regional issues, including reforms within the African Union.

The summit, a key component of the AU’s Agenda 2063, seeks to eradicate hunger and poverty through agriculture and enhance Africa’s agri-food systems.
