Posta Rangers slowed down KCB’s title charge after coming from behind to stun the bankers 2-1 in a tight FKF Premier League match staged at St. Sébastian Park, in Muranga County on Saturday.

The bankers needed victory that would have seen them move to two points within reach of leaders Kenya Police but Rangers who are fighting to avoid being relegated to the National Super League were much hungrier for maximum points.

Interestingly, it was the bankers who were off the blocks first when James Kinyanjui found the back of the net in the ninth minute to give KCB an early 1-0 lead.

However, the mailmen replied in the fifth minute of first half added time through Shami Mwinyi, who sealed his brace in the 55th minute, serving his former employer bitterness in the process.

The win lifted Rangers three points further away from the relegation zone as KCB remained joint third with Gor Mahia on 36 points.

At Dandora Stadium, Mara Sugar came from a goal down to hold Sofapaka to a 1-1 draw.

Sofapaka took the lead in the 45th minute through Edward Omondi before Mara leveled matters in the 53rd minute through Joseph Okwenda.

The draw left Batoto ba Mungu eighth with 30 points as the sugar men sit 11th with 27 points.

In Machakos, Nairobi City Stars got a major boost on their push to avoid relegation after registering their first win of the year by edging Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium.

City Stars who are bottom of the 18-team league scored through Kelvin Etemesi, a fourth minute strike that secured maximum points that lifts them to 22 points same as Bidco United and FC Talanta. Bidco saw off Talanta 1-0 in the battle of the bottom teams.

Action continues on Sunday when Tusker travel to play Bandari in Mombasa. The brewers are currently second on the log with 40 points, a point behind leaders Police who will not be in action.

Shabana will welcome Kakamega Homeboyz in Gusii while Murangá Seal play Mathare United in Muranga.
