Herman Manyora has been elected as the chairman of the Board of Management of the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA).
Manyora is a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi’s Department of Linguistics and Languages, known for his expertise in communication and political analysis. He has gained national prominence for his sharp commentary on Kenyan politics and governance.
Minutes of a Special board meeting held on July 30, and seen by The Standard, confirmed Prof. Manyora as the new KAH Board chair, elected unopposed after there emerged no other proposal emerged.
Now stepping into a leadership role in the health sector, he brings both academic depth and public policy insight to the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA), the body that manages The Nairobi Hospital and represents the private health sector within KEPSA.
“The Motion ‘to pass a resolution that the Chairman of the KAH at The Nairobi Hospital takes place immediately’ was proposed by Dr. Agnes Gachoki and seconded by Pro. Timothy Byakika. The motion was passed unanimously,” the minutes read in part.
He now takes over from Dr. Berclay Onyambu and will be at the helm of the KHA leadership for the next three years.
The Kenya Hospital Association is a non-profit organisation that operates The Nairobi Hospital as its primary facility alongside other medical institutions.
The board serves as a voluntary body that oversees the functions of the facilities and particularly the management of The Nairobi Hospital.
It also operates as the health sector board of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
KHA facilities offer various services, including cancer treatment, critical care, and maternal/neonatal health.
