The National Assembly and the Senate will be resuming their normal sittings on Tuesday after a short recess with a full tray for both houses.

 The vetting of two Cabinet Secretary nominees, 14 Principal secretary nominees, and several Ambassadorial nominees will be one of the key agendas as the National Assembly gets back to business after a two-week break.

The Senate will be considering the joint report of the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and the Senate Justice and Legal Affairs Committee over the National Dialogue Committee report as it resumes sittings after a week break.

The Senate will also be considering the report of the Mediation Committee on the Conflict of Interest Bill (National Assembly Bills No. 12 of 2023), the County Oversight and Accountability bill, and the County Wards Equitable Development Bill, among others.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, who is the Chairperson of the Appointments Committee will be leading the vetting process for ?ublic Service Cabinet Secretary Nominee Geoffrey Ruku and Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Nominee Hannah Cheptumo.

“The President exercising the powers conferred by Article 155(3)(a) of the Constitution, nominated 14 individuals for appointment as Principal Secretaries, the Clerk of the National Assembly is therefore directed to transmit the notification to all Members of National Assembly and facilitate the Committees in conducting the necessary approval hearings,” said Wetangula.
