Otieno lifts Patron title in Kakamega


Beatrice Otieno amassed 43 stable ford points to clinch the Patrons Easter Golf tournament at the Kakamega Sports Club course over the weekend.

Otieno, the club’s lady captain, led by example as she beat a field of over 100 golfers drawn from host Kakamega Sports Club and Kitale Club, Kenya Railways Golf Club.

Others were Nyali Golf and Country Club, Nyanza Sports Club, Eldoret Club, Nandi Bears Club and Entebbe Golf Club (Uganda).

Playing off handicap 32 and playing to her home course advantage, Otieno was in her element and posted the winning score.

On her win, Otieno said: “Although I played late, everything went smoothly. My drives and putts were consistent, and I was fortunate to have amazing teammates who contributed greatly to the positive golf experience.”

Home player Innocent Ondieki, playing off handicap 19, returned a score of 43 stable ford points to lift the men winner prize. Kenya Airforce Golf Clubs’ Isabel Imbuye was declared the lady winner on 33 stable ford points.

Leading the prize onslaught in Division One was handicap 18, Hieronim Ikhokoro, who chalked 41 stable ford points, followed by Andrew Maleche, who carded 40 stable ford points.

Division Two was won by Derek Mwaura, with 43 stable ford points. Eliud Sigana came in second with 39 stable ford points.

In Division Three, Griffin Asigo starred with 35 stable ford points, edging out Kihoto Njuguna on countback with a similar score of 35 stable ford points to second place.
