Sudi, one of President William Ruto’s stalwarts, exuded confidence in Kindiki’s leadership.

The lawmaker said the outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary befits the position and will unite the country, unlike his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua, who he (Sudi) suggested was sowing the seed of discord in the country through his supposed rhetoric of regional and ethnic politics.

Gachagua’s ally chides Moses Kuria over Kithure Kindiki’s anticipated swearing-in: “Has it happened?”

“We have entrusted Kindiki with this position, and we know he will champion the interests of all Kenyans. We will be done with his swearing-in on Tuesday. He will have lifted the Bible by 10:00am,” said Sudi.

The MP restated that the resolve to impeach Gachagua was not accidental, saying there was a need to rid the country of backward tribal politics.

He implied that had the former deputy president been allowed to continue holding office, he would have contributed to the ethnic balkanisation that would result in a civil war.

“This country belongs to all 50 million of us. Tribalism is a disease that should not be entertained; people from Mt Kenya are all over the country. Let us identify ourselves as Kenyans, not with our tribes. No one wants to see what happened in 2007 not to come again, and that is why we impeached him (Gachagua), because we don’t want to be pitied against each other on trbal lines. If you are a deputy president fight for all Kenyans,” said Sudi.
