The Orange Democratic Movement party has given updates on the ongoing grassroot elections, which began in November 2024.
Following the completion of the exercise, the party has commended a successful election despite a few members who expressed dissatisfaction.
However, the party has noted some disruption at the wards during the second phase of the exercise held on Monday.
“ Again, the exercise was largely successful save a few cases reported in Ndhiwa in Homabay County, Kibra in Nairobi, and Kaptembwa in Nakuru, all of which are being investigated with a view to quick resolution,” said Rahab Robi, party secretary for communication.
The disruption is noted to have taken place in three wards out of 1450 across the country where the exercise was carried out.
Following the competition of the exercise on Monday, the party has noted that the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) had started receiving results from Constituencies Returning Officers across the country by yesterday evening.
The party has further given directives on those eligible to participate in tomorrow’s exercise.
“Delegates elected in yesterday’s exercise will be the only ones eligible to participate its the Branch elections, which are scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday 9, April 2025) in all the 290 constituencies its the country,” it added.
The party has appealed to the public to maintain peace, sounding a warning to those planning to disrupt the remaining exercise.
“We want to sound a warning to anyone planning to cause violence anywhere in the country in tomorrow’s exercise that a stern action shall be taken against them including expulsion from the party,” the party warned.
