A family in Nyamira County is mourning the loss of three children who died in a house fire in Nyangori, Gachuba area of Kitutu Masaba.

When did Nyamira fire occur?
The heartbreaking incident took place around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, when a fire engulfed the timber house where the children were sleeping.
All three victims—a 12-year-old girl, a 4-year-old girl, and a 9-year-old boy—were children of Naftal Mogai.

The children were asleep on the upper level of the house when the fire erupted, providing them with no chance to escape.
A villager who rushed to the scene recounted the harrowing incident.
“We heard screams and rushed over, but by the time we got there, the house was already consumed by fire. We couldn’t save the children,” said a neighbor, overwhelmed with emotion.
Naftal Mogai, the father of the children, expressed his devastation and difficulty in coping with the loss of his three kids.
“My world has come crashing down. I don’t know how to move forward after losing my children like this,” he said tearfully.
Detectives from the Keroka Police Station arrived shortly after the fire was reported.
They assessed the scene before transporting the children’s charred remains to the morgue at Gucha Hospital.
“We are investigating the cause of the fire and will ensure the family gets justice,” said one of the detectives.
