What does KUCCPS stand for?

Alpine scored C+, but when others joined the university, she remained at home due to a lack of fees. Like many students from needy families, Chepkorir applied for funding from the Higher Education Loans Board, but her application was placed in a different band, where she could not get admitted.

After her story hit the headlines, things turned around for her after disability advocate Jonathan Metet spoke to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Systems (KUCCPS), who agreed to reanalyse her case.

Things changed for her completely, and now she is set to join KU.

Who is the CEO of KUCCPS?

National Disability Rights Advocate and Disability Inclusion Champion at Technical University of Mombasa Jonathan Metet told TUKO.co.ke that Aphine was going to study Bachelor’s of Education (Arts).

“Following your request to be transferred under Affirmative Action Criteria, I am pleased to inform you that KUCCPS board has approved your transfer,” Agnes Mercy Wahome, Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

“You are, therefore, advised to contact KU with the letter of admission and joining instructions,” she added.

In April 2024, Jelagat Maiyo was set to further her education after her area member of parliament, Gideon Kimaiyo, intervened.

The lady fared well in the 2010 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, in which she scored a mean grade of B.

Without sharing the details of the course the lady would take, Kimaiyo committed to fully paying her fees and later helping her secure employment.
