Ndindi Nyoro: Mixed Reactions as Kiharu MP Fails to Sign Impeachment Motion against Rigathi Gachagua

  • Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was not spotted in the National Assembly chambers when the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was being introduced
  • Neither was his name read among the lawmakers who appended their signatures in favour of the motion tabled on Tuesday afternoon, October 1
  • Nyoro is on record questioning the significance of Gachagua’s ouster, noting that the deputy president fought for the current regime to get a win in the 2022 vote

Nairobi – Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has ignited a debate on the Kenyan internet after seemingly sidelining himself off the plot to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The House was served with the notice of the motion on Tuesday afternoon, October 1.

A total of 291 MPs appended their signatures to the motion.

The Kiharu MP missing from the list of the MPs in favour of the motion saw some quarters wondering about his stand, given that he is a chief loyalist to President William Ruto, whose allies in parliament signed to impeach Gachagua.

It is, however, not lost that Nyoro has always stayed himself out of contentious issues of national importance.

For instance, the MP was not as vocal as his colleagues who backed the demised Finance Bill 2024.

On the issue of Gachagua’s ouster, Nyoro has proven his reticence, save for a politically rally in which he questioned the significance of Gachagua’s ouster.
