Nakuru: Prison Officer Killed, Another Wounded Over Allegations of Theft

Nakuru – A prison officer has been killed, and another was injured in Mogoon after enraged residents attacked them on suspicion of theft.

The incident was confirmed by Police Commander Michael Mwaura, who reported that two other individuals managed to escape the scene.

According to authorities, the suspects were using a vehicle with police-related items, including handcuffs and uniforms, which were later recovered.

It is alleged that the suspects posed as police officers to carry out a theft, leading to a violent reaction from the local community.

What happened during attack of prison officer?

Residents of Mogoon provided firsthand accounts of the event. Peter Kiptanui, a witness, described hearing loud commotion outside his home with people shouting “thief” as they encircled the suspects.

They reported that the individuals had allegedly stolen items and were using police attire to disguise themselves.

“I heard loud shouting outside, with people yelling ‘thief.’ I was told the suspects, who were surrounded by the crowd, had stolen and were posing as police officers,” said Peter Kiptanui.

“They had police uniforms inside their bag,” another resident confirmed.

The police are tracking the two suspects who fled the scene and are working to ensure the safety of the community amidst the unrest sparked by this event.
