Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, a friend of the deceased tout, identified as Bosco, revealed that he was scheduled to donate blood today for Mwangi only to learn while at the bus station that he had died.
Bosco said he woke up at 3 a.m. because he and other friends had planned to pass by KNH to donate blood for him.

“When I woke up, I saw a KSh 200 bob challenge in the WhatsApp group to raise the tout’s hospital bill. I sent my money before getting ready for my dad,” he said.
“In the morning, while I was waiting to board a matatu, a friend came to me and told me that makanga bae was no more. I was shocked. I checked WhatsApp, where I found the confirmation of his death,” he added.

Bosco said he had to find a place to sit down to process the news of the passing of the makanga whom he knew personally.
“I have been so held up this week that is why I was scheduled to go donate the blood today. I feel so guilty; I wish I did it earlier but I believe in God’s plan. Even some other people arrived at KNH to donate blood to him only to receive the news of his passing,” he said.
Bosco described the tout as a dedicated professional who helped him when he did not have fare.
“There was a time when I was going to Thika Road. I opened up to him and told him I did not have fare, and he accepted to drop me,” he recalled.
The Nairobi man said the tout’s friends and family are still contributing towards the hospital bill, which had crossed the KSh 700 mark by yesterday.
