Defending champions Musingu High School will renew their rivalry with St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School when the two sides face off in Group A of the Kakamega County Term Two football games set to kick off on Thursday in Mumias.
Old rivals and traditional powerhouses will clash as the 2025 games kick off at St Peter’s Mumias.
In football, familiar heavyweights Shanderema and Kakamega High School will be working very hard to reclaim their lost glory and dethrone defending champions Musingu, while Archbishop Njenga Girls prey on national football girls’ champions Butere Girls.
St Peter’s Mumias and defending champions Musingu will clash in Group A, which also comprises Mwira and Mwitoti. The hosts will face Mwira and Mwitoti in their opening two matches today before playing Musingu tomorrow.
Former national champions Kakamega High will headline Group B alongside Mwihila and Munyuki, while Shanderema, Butere, Ingotse and Mapera play in Group C.
Shamberere, Marakusi and Mumias Muslim will face off in Group D’s battle of the underdogs.
In rugby sevens, former East Africa and national champions Koyonzo Secondary School will seek to retain its title, but they will face a tough challenge from likely favourites St Peter’s Mumias, Kakamega High and Musingu.
Koyonzo headline Group C, where they will play Silungani, Soy Sambu and Mwihila, easy matches, same as Kakamega High, who are in Group A alongside Mautuma, Shatsala, Lubinu, and Kholera.
For Musingu, they will play Mwtoyi, Mahanga and Shanjero while St Peter’s Mumias entertain Kivaywa, Ingotse and Lugari.
“We have trained well. We know we have to work hard after the first term disappointments, when our 15s team lost at the counties. Nothing will be left unturned in our pursuit for glory again,” said Koyonzo coach Eliud Okwemba.
