How to apply for the Murang’a internship programme

In an advert on its website, the Murang’a County Public Service Board noted that the internship programme would offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship.

“Murang’a County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons as interns under the county internship programme in different specialisations,” the advert read.

The board asked interested candidates to submit their applications by Thursday, October 31.

“Applicants should apply online using the link on or before October 31.”

Which internship posts did Murang’a advertise?

1. Pharmaceutical technologist interns – 20 posts

Requirements:

  • Diploma in either pharmacy or pharmaceutical technology or equivalent qualification approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognised institution.
  • Certificate of enrollment as a pharmaceutical technologist awarded by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
  • Be aged 35 years and below.

2. Registered nurses interns- 30 posts

Requirements:

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community, Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry.
  • Registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Valid practising license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Be aged 35 years and below.

How graduates should prepare for internships

Emmanuel Makokha, a career coach and founder of Fresh Jobs Kenya, told TUKO.co.ke that a strong resume is key to applying for internship opportunities.

In an exclusive interview, Makokha advised students and graduates looking for placements to highlight their academic achievements, including any successful projects they did.

“Even if you lack formal experience. Focus on highlighting your academic achievements, relevant coursework, and any projects or assignments that demonstrate your skills. Include extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and leadership roles that show initiative and teamwork,” he explained.

Which other institutions declared vacancies?

The county government of Taita Taveta is hiring for its health department.

Among the vacant positions declared by the county government of Taita Taveta are medical officers and nurses.

Elsewhere, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) invited applications for vacant positions and consultancy work.
