MP Zaheer Jhanda blasts ODM leaders for ‘double standards’

The rising tensions within the opposition over the government’s handling of anti-government protests and its economic policies are gaining momentum.

Several ODM leaders have been accusing the Kenya Kwanza administration of suppressing civil liberties and neglecting the needs of ordinary Kenyans.

However, Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda has lashed out at the leaders, accusing them of hypocrisy for criticising the Kenya Kwanza administration while still enjoying privileges in government.

Jhanda took to his official social media accounts to fault the ODM leaders for what he termed as empty threats and lectures on governance and human rights.

“Those ODM leaders criticising the government should not threaten or lecture us on how to run the government or on human rights. They have never won any elections,” he posted.

Jhanda challenged the dissenting opposition figures to clarify their position, questioning why they continued to occupy senior government positions if they disagreed with the administration’s direction.

“If they’re uncomfortable in the broad-based government, then muhame mbio,” he stated. [loosely translating to “leave quickly”].

He went further to dare the critics to instruct ODM-affiliated Cabinet Secretaries to resign, saying this would be a true test of their seriousness.

“Ask your ministers to resign, and then we shall take you seriously,” he added.
