The university not only secured several titles but also saw its teams advance to the knockout stages in most disciplines.

MMUST clinched victories in women’s hockey and volleyball, as well as in men’s volleyball. Additionally, they reached the finals in women’s football and men’s hockey, and advanced to the semi-finals in other events.

In the women’s hockey final, MMUST defeated hosts Kenyatta University (KU) 2-1. They overcame the University of Nairobi (UoN) 1-0 in the semi-finals, while KU secured a 2-1 win over Kaimosi to reach the final.

In volleyball, MMUST’s men’s and women’s teams emerged victorious, defeating Kenyatta and Chuka Universities with scores of 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.

In the women’s football final, KU lifted the title after beating Zetech 4-3 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.

During the semi-finals, KU secured a 5-4 victory over MMUST on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Dianna Barasa scored first for KU in the 25th minute before Faith Atieno equalised for MMUST four minutes later.

The men’s football final between KU and Maasai Mara was halted in the second half due to a pitch invasion by fans, with KU leading by a solitary goal.

Football coordinator Tom Agwanda stated that a decision regarding the replay of the aborted match will be made by the Kenya Universities Sports Secretariat.
