Led by Nyatike MP Tom Odege, the legislators claim it is time to show Gachagua the door for allegedly advancing tribalism.

Why will Migori MPs support Gachagua’s impeachment?

Odege claimed that since he was elected, the DP has focused his energy on the Mount Kenya region, sidelining other parts of the country.

“Gachagua laid traps for us and bragged about it, but he’s now trapped in his own trap. We won’t let him escape,” the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator told TUKO.co.ke.

“I will proudly vote for Gachagua’s impeachment without doubt,” he added.

Awendo legislator Walter Owino shared similar sentiments.

Owino said he would support the motion to impeach Gachagua because of his shareholding narrative.

“We can’t have a deputy president who is always regionalizing everything to where he is coming from. We don’t care who or where the next deputy president will be or come from, all we want is an inclusive leader,” he said.

The MP, who is also allied to the ODM party, further cautioned the individual who will take over after Gachagua’s impeachment to avoid engaging in tribalism and instead focus on promoting unity.

Other Migori MPs who have declared their support for Gachagua’s impeachment include Suna West’s Peter Masara and his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohammed.

“We don’t have any right to defend Kenya Kwanza leaders. If they want to send home one of their own, we will help them send him parking without a second thought. In case the motion is tabled, I’ll vote yes,” Masara said.

What are the charges facing Rigathi Gachagua?

TUKO.co.ke previously reported that the impeachment motion against Gachagua is ready, with those behind it having drawn up the grounds to remove the DP from office.

Reports indicate that the Kenya Kwanza lawmakers pushing for Gachagua’s ouster have eight grounds upon which they want Gachagua impeached.

Among the charges is Gachagua allegedly demanding payment from President William Ruto for Mount Kenya votes.
