The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of Grace Nduta Wairimu, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kanyenya-ini Ward, in connection with the alleged abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi.
In a statement, the DCI said Wairimu was taken into custody on May 29 as part of ongoing investigations into what authorities now believe was a staged abduction involving the legislator.
“We wish to confirm that Grace Wairimu was arrested today, May 29, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation into the stage-managed abduction of the Juja Member of Parliament,” the DCI said.
The arrest follows widespread speculation on social media, with several users including some political figures claiming that Wairimu had been abducted by unknown individuals earlier in the day.

However, DCI has refuted those claims.
Wairimu claimed she was in Kangema attending a church service and political rallies on May 25, investigators have placed her at Ellis Bar and Restaurant in Kiganjo, Gatundu South—alongside MP Koimburi—for the entire night.
On Monday, MP Koimburi was found in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County, hours after reports surfaced of his alleged abduction.
Earlier today, multiple social media posts reported seeing Nduta being escorted by unknown individuals from a restaurant in Kandara.
So far, police have arrested four suspects in connection with the incident.
