Nairobi—Reports about the disappearance of social media personality Scophine Aoko Otieno, widely known as Maverick Aoko, have taken a new twist.
A post on her social media profile on Monday, October 28, by a person claiming to be Aoko’s aide detailed the blogger’s last moments before her sudden disappearance.
According to her aide, following her last arrest in August, Aoko chose to stay with family in the countryside, only travelling to Nairobi for meetings and court appearances.
The aide recounted that two weeks ago, upon returning to Nairobi, Aoko discovered her front door had been forcibly damaged, which alarmed her.
“After her arrest, she opted to stay with family upcountry only going to Nairobi for meetings & Court. Two weeks ago, upon her return to Nairobi, she found her main door clobbered at the hinges. She called me panicked. I asked her to take pictures and leave. She decided not to say it to prevent drawing attention that she was around,” the aide said.

The aide disclosed that Aoko’s caretaker and watchman also reported strange men hovering around the estate and asking for her whereabouts.

According to the aide, the controversial sudden disappearance came days after she wrote about a prominent figure on her X page.
He noted that they initially thought she was just being careful with her security, but they have now become worried after failing to hear from her.
“After her tweet on Mr. “F” , she went incognito, which we ( family and friends) thought normal; perhaps she just wanted to confuse enemies. We still don’t know her whereabouts. To whom do we report? Same police who told her lawyers point-blank, “we are coming for her.”If they took her, we’re asking that they produce her; if she is hiding, we pray that she is safe and will reach out in whatever discreet way just so we can all have peace of mind,” the statement added.
