As a matter of principle, Koome said she always purposed to remain neutral throughout a case she was hearing.

In the event she is approached by parties to determine a certain case, she recuses herself from the matter, she said, and then expose those seeking her favour.

“Nobody has ever tried to influence me as a trial judge, a Court of Appeal judge, as a Supreme Court judge and as the president of the Supreme Court. I cannot allow it and the constitution does not allow us to be influenced by anybody or any authority. So, whoever would be attempting to influence me, I would quickly refer them to the Constitution because it is written there in black and white. You may be approached through the church or women’s group, and they don’t do it directly. I would immediately declare, and expose them and recuse myself from hearing the matter,” said Koome.
