How did Kibe Mungai respond to Gachagua’s impeachment?
He criticised the MPs for their rapid vote, stating they acted “like sheep,” without thoroughly reading or understanding the charges presented against the deputy president.
Mungai emphasised that the constitution does not specify a timeline for the impeachment process, arguing that the 14 days allocated for the proceedings were insufficient for properly addressing the allegations.
He condemned the haste with which the MPs moved to impeach Gachagua, noting that it did not allow for adequate consideration of the various accusations levied against him.
“You cannot treat the removal of a deputy president like a public emergency, you are doing it within 14 days. Even a chicken thief is not tried within a month,” he stated.
