Six Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers linked to the disappearance of Nakuru fisherman Brian Odhiambo in January have been charged with abduction.
In a statement, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions says that the accused will remain in custody for one week pending trial.
The officers include Francis Wachira, Alexander Lorogoi, Isaac Ochieng Odhiambo, Michael Wabukala, Evans Kimaiyo, and Abdulrahaman Ali Sudi.
“The officers have been charged with the offence of Abduction with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him (Brian) on 18th January 2025 at around 10 am in Bondeni, Nakuru East Sub-County,” read part of the statement.
The accused will remain in custody after Nakuru Principal Magistrate Kipkurui Kibelio granted the prosecution’s request asking the court to deny the officers bond.
The suspects will be remanded at the Nakuru GK prison ahead of the ruling scheduled for May 12.
Earlier, the court was forced to postpone the plea taking for the officers after they appeared in the dock without legal representation leading to a dispute.
The family of Brian Odhiambo has been seeking justice for their kin whose whereabouts remain unknown nearly four months after the first report of his disappearance was made.
“We have looked for him everywhere, for the last two and a half months. We have now accepted that he has died, his body is either hidden or it has disappeared,” said Alvy Okello, Brian’s wife.
