Kibwana suggested that Ruto may have initially considered current Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as a potential running mate.
He asserted that Ruto might be reconsidering that choice in light of Gachagua’s impeachment motion.
What did Kibwana say about Gachagua’s impeachment?
While speaking to Citizen TV, Kibwana said that Gachagua could be facing impeachment because President Ruto may be planning to make changes in his government in preparation for the 2027 general election.
He stated that the primary reason for Gachagua’s current troubles could be failure to understand what his boss, Ruto, prefers.
“Maybe one of the crimes that Gachagua might have committed was to not understand his president. The president as I’ve watched him doesn’t like this person who is strong willed,” Kibwana said.

He argued that if the Senate saves Gachagua from impeachment, it could strain the relationship between Ruto and the deputy president.
“They will have to sit down if it happens that he is saved. They will also have to get people to mediate ,” he added.
The former governor emphasised the importance of a strong relationship between the president and his deputy for the benefit of the country.
“We need to make some conventions. Like the conventions of a president and a deputy president having a good relationship so that the country is stable.”
He added that there are actions country leaders can take that could destabilize the nation, and such behavior should not be excused.
