The Monday, October 14, evening accident occurred along the busy Ruaka-Ndenderu Highway, sparking outrage among locals.
This led to regrettable scenes as the residents torched a newly acquired high-end vehicle.

The horrifying incident reportedly unfolded at around 6:30 pm when a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser 300, estimated to be worth KSh 27 million, ran over two pedestrians who were attempting to cross the road.
According to witnesses at the scene, the couple suffered severe head and limb injuries, dying on the spot.
The collision also caused significant damage to the front of the Land Cruiser, but it wasn’t long before the situation escalated.
How did Ruaka residents react to accident deaths
Residents, angered by the deaths, quickly gathered at the accident scene and began blocking the highway, causing a major traffic jam.

They pointed out that the road was turning into a death trap, adding that the two ladies were allegedly knocked down on the same road.
With tempers flaring, the crowd resorted to using rocks to barricade the road, forcing motorists to find alternative routes.
Videos shared online showed residents standing by the roadside as they vandalised the luxury vehicle before setting it on fire.
A video seen by TUKO.co.ke showed the car fully engulfed in flames as residents, frustrated by what they termed as the government’s failure to address the frequent road accidents in the area.
Later, police officers collected the deceased’s remains and transported them to Kiambu Hospital, awaiting an autopsy.
