The daily highlighted President William Ruto’s new headache in nominating the new holder of the Interior Cabinet Secretary post following the elevation of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to his current post.

Ruto is said to be keen on the nomination so as not to occasion a political contest, upset regional balance, or jeopardise his newly-found ally and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Insiders within the presidency, aware of the intense lobbying among Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders, informed the Nation that the President is considering a number of factors to strike a balance.

“It’s a delicate balance for the President. Everyone is lobbying either individually or through community and allies. His choice will shock Kenyans,” a close ally of the president told Daily Nation.

National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro, however, said the President is spoilt for choice but insisted the seat is not a preserve of the big communities.
