Elsewhere, one of the dailies established that murdered Wells Fargo director for Human Resource Willis Ayieko was part of the company’s team probing the theft of KSh 94 million from a Quickmart Supermarket branch.

The newspaper reported the events before the death of Willis Ayieko, a Kenyan who headed the Human Resource department of Wells Fargo, a multinational with a presence in Nairobi.

Ayieko was part of the team charged with conducting a separate probe into the money heist, according to his close family members and colleagues.

It was in November 2023 when a team of operatives from Wells Fargo allegedly disappeared with KSh 94 million belonging to Quicmart Supermarket.

The retail chain had outsourced the company to handle its monies; the guards were to bank the millions when they disappeared with them.

Ayieko and his colleagues were undertaking an investigation parallel to the one by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“Willis Ayieko, the HR director, was in these meetings where the company initiated a parallel internal investigation into the matter,” Daily Nation quoted one of the family members as saying.

The family members further confided in DN that a couple of employees at Wells Fargo had been arrested following the forensic analysis of communication data which linked them with the two prime suspects.
