During routine line maintenance, Kenya Power technicians usually carry out tasks such as replacing old or faulty transformers, replacing worn-out transmission lines, and, in some instances, installing new lines.

Such activities typically require the lines to be turned off at a substation or other locations the electricians deem fit for disconnection to ensure the safety of staff and energy consumers.
