The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned maintenance that will result in power outages across five counties on Wednesday, October 16.

The affected areas, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kisumu, and Migori, are expected to experience blackouts lasting between eight and nine hours.

Residents are advised to prepare accordingly and plan for the interruptions in service.

1. Nairobi

• V Club, St Bhakita (From 9am-5pm)

Scion Hospital, V Club, Johari’s, Mukuru Health Centre, Part of Villa Franca East, Kings Millennium, St. Bhakita, Takbir Distributers, Mukuru Educational Centre, Penda Medical Centre Embakasi, Bamba 70, Unique East, Seyani Brothers, Kenya Builders, Honey Suckle, King of Judah Ministries, and Swaminarayan School, and adjacent customers.

• Eastleigh

Huduma Centre Eastleigh, Salama Wholesalers, Mega Wholesalers, Shell Petro Station, Equity Bank Eastleigh and 2nd Avenue.

2. Nyeri (From 8am – 5pm)

Ndunyu, Mahiga Girls, Mathenge Technical, Munyange, Njigari, Gitugi, Gathuthi, Ihithe, Hubuini, Dr. Kamundia Girls, Mukarara, Kenyatta Mihiga High School, Mathakwani Water Treatment, Karangia Market, and Kihome.

3. Migori (From 9am – 4pm)

Parts of Migori to have power cuts from 9 am to 4 pm include Sony Sugar, Awendo Town, Ranen Market, Rinya Market, Awendo Water, Mageta, Aoro Choge, Mariwa Town, Awendo County Hosp, Kokuro Centre, Dede Centre, Ombasa, Ranen Mission, Panda, Mamuwadu, Rinya, Komware and adjacent customers.

4. Kiambu (From 8am -5pm)

• Part of Kamiti Road and Ruturo

They are part of Kamiti Ridge, Kamiti Prisons, Ruturo, Mungu Farm, Ken Flora, Wood Crick, Mugumo, and Munene East. Other areas in Kiambu to have power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm are Gitaru, Kanjeru, Muthure, Rukubi, Cura, Kahuho, Ruku, Kirangari, Gikuni Market, Nyathuna Market, Nyathuna Dispensary and Thingate B.

• Gitaru, Muthure, Nyathuna

Ngethu Waterworks Lower Camp, Ngorongo H/Center, Ngorongo Market, Kamwangi Market, Dry Village, Sun Valley Hotel, Ndarwa, Igegania Hospital, Karuri Market, Mbichi Market, Watathi Market, Gatei Market, Ichachiri School, Kairi Market, Kairi Boys, and St. Ann’s Kairi will experience power cuts in Kiambu.

5. Kisumu (From 9am – 5pm)

They include Guba Mariwa, Kotunga Dispensary, Angira Primary and Secondary Schools, and Kibos Sugar Industries.
