Nairobi – Sirisia MP John Waluke could not hide his joy after the Court of Appeal overturned his 67-year jail sentence in a landmark ruling that cleared him of corruption charges.

The ruling comes as a major relief to the embattled lawmaker, who had previously been sentenced alongside Grace Wakhungu, the mother of former Cabinet Secretary Judy Wakhungu, in connection with a KSh 297 million National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) fraud case.
Waluke and Wakhungu were found guilty in 2020 and ordered to pay a hefty fine of KSh 1 billion each or serve a 67-year prison sentence.

However, the Court of Appeal ruled in Waluke’s favour, allowing him to walk free.
How did Waluke celebrate his freedom
In a video shared shortly after the court ruling, the Sirisia MP was seen dancing energetically to traditional Luhya isikuti music.
The jubilant celebration took place at what appeared to be his homestead, where a group of supporters surrounded him, cheering as the lawmaker handed out wads of cash to the artiste playing the traditional drum.

The singer serenaded Waluke with praises as he danced joyfully, seemingly overwhelmed by the outcome of the court proceedings.
Waluke expressed heartfelt gratitude to the residents of Sirisia Constituency, thanking them for their unwavering support throughout his legal battle.
“Thank you for your prayers my great people of Sirisia Constituency,” he wrote, acknowledging the crucial role their prayers played in sustaining him.
