Khaminwa was at the courts for the case challenging the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua as the deputy president.
The journalist hoped to seize the opportunity to get a juicy story from him. She asked if he had ever considered marrying another wife.

However, in his response, Khaminwa, now 88, said the country was facing more important issues that he was concerned about than the issue of remarrying.
“You want me to talk about that? There is a constitutional crisis in the country regarding whether the deputy president was properly convicted by the Senate. We have urgent issues that 50 million Kenyans are facing.
I am not very sure if this is the time when we should discuss whether Khaminwa is remarrying or not,” he hilariously responded.
When did John Khaminwa’s wife die?
The veteran lawyer lost his wife, Joyce Nuku Khaminwa, in 2014.
They had been married for about 48 years and were blessed with four children. However, one of his sons passed away in 2017.
In a past interview with TV 47, Khaminwa, among the country’s longest-serving lawyers, praised his wife.

He said that throughout their marriage, he never asked her for money, but she always chipped in when things were tough on him.
“I made it clear that it was my duty to provide for her and take care of domestic issues. However, when she would realize that there was an issue, she would always volunteer and chip in. When I had a loan with the HFCK, she wrote me a cheque of KSh 3 million which I never asked her,” Khaminwa said.

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that Khaminwa brought laughter to lawyers at Milimani Law Court as he challenged the time allocated for lawyers arguing the impeachment of ousted deputy president Gachagua.
Counsel Githu Muigai requested that Khaminwa adhere to court procedures, which dictate that a senior counsel must speak before any other individual except the attorney-general.
