Menengai Oilers are the Great Rift 10-Aside Champions.

They did so after beating rivals Kabras Sugar 15-0 at Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday.

It was a sweet victory for Oilers who defeated a side that beat them 27-26 at the Kenya Cup finals  last weekend.

Oilers 10-Aside coach Ben Kamau was proud of his boys after the result.

“It was a tough game and we planned for it after our first defeat in their hands and we’ll beat them again,” Kamau told Standard Sports in a post match interview.

Oilers face Kabras Sugar in the Enterprise Cup final on Saturday.

During the final match, Oilers led 5-0 at half time courtesy of a try by wonderboy Bildad Ogeta. Oilers were in a class of their own in the second half and never looked back.

Steve Arunga added the second try for the winners in the second half with Erick Ogutu not missing the conversion.

Shortly, Ogutu was on the mark again when he scored a penalty that put the match beyond the reach of the sugar millers. 

Ogutu was voted the Most Valuable Player while Cyprian Ombaso of Nakuru RFÇ emerged as the Most Promising Player.

In the semi-finals, Kabras Sugar defeated Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad 29-0 in a one sided match as Oilers stopped hosts Nakuru RFC 17-7.

Oilers scored three tries and a conversion while Nakuru RFC managed a try and a conversion.

Oilers’ tries came through Bildad Ogeta, Emmanuel Mulinda and Calvin Malewa as Erick Ogutu returned the conversion.

In the quarter-finals, Kabras Sugar dismissed Molo RFC 22-0, Oilers beat USIU Martials 40-5, Nakuru RFC defeated Catholic Monks 22-0, Blak Blad narrowly beat Strathmore Leos 10-7 and Nakuru KITI thrashed Egerton Wasps 26-12.

Nakuru RFC won the playoffs. In the Age Grading Uñder 15, Nakuru RFC Eagles Academy 12-9.

Nakuru KITI lifted the Under 18 title after whipping Nakuru RFC 17-0.
