Ann Nderitu, the Registrar of Political Parties, has pledged to focus on teamwork and strict adherence to the rule of law if appointed as an IEBC commissioner.

As one of the nominees for the position, Nderitu emphasised that her approach to leadership would center on collaboration and ensuring transparency in every process.

“I am a team player. It will be very easy to work as a commissioner because I believe an institution is only as good as how well the team works together,” said Nderitu.

Stressing that building a strong team is essential for the smooth operation of any institution.

In her proposed role, Nderitu highlighted the importance of following rules and regulations, especially in critical areas such as procurement.

“If I am part of the procurement committee, I will ensure the rules and regulations are followed and check if the team is adhering to the law,” she explained, emphasising the need for proper procurement plans, clear timelines, and effective risk mitigation strategies to ensure accountability.

Additionally, Nderitu noted the value of staying well-informed about the commission’s activities. “I will ensure that proper procurement plans and timelines are followed to the letter,” she said, underscoring her commitment to oversight and operational efficiency.

On partnerships, Nderitu praised IEBC’s existing framework for engaging donors, saying it clearly defines what donors can and cannot do through memorandums of understanding (MOUs).

“This structure ensures that there is a demarcation of roles and responsibilities, maintaining the integrity of the commission,” she said.

Looking ahead, Nderitu stressed that once commissioners are appointed, the priority would be setting clear parameters for voter registration.

“Voter registration will begin immediately, and I will ensure that all processes are streamlined with well-defined timelines,” she said.
