Hope for Muhoroni women after economic boost

Mwanadada Women Group in Muhoroni Sub County is beaming with hope after receiving critical support to boost their income-generating activities.

The group, which meets every Wednesday for table banking, is among ten women’s groups currently under the mentorship of the Jiwo Mwanadada Foundation.

Over the weekend, Beatrice Amondi, the founder of Jiwo Mwanadada Foundation, delivered over 100 chairs to the group.

The chairs, which the women can hire out during local events, are expected to generate revenue and fund future projects. The initiative is a partnership with Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, whose support brought the project to fruition.

Speaking during the handover, Amondi lauded the Mwanadada Women Group for their resilience and determination.

“This group embodies the spirit of hard work and togetherness. I believe in their ability to transform their lives through innovative ideas and collective effort,” she said.

Amondi emphasized the importance of women in rural settings coming together to foster economic growth.

“For groups like Mwanadada, business ideas are more than just income sources; they are lifelines. When women work together and grow together, they uplift not only themselves but also their families and communities,” she added.

Beyond economic empowerment, Amondi, a staunch advocate for the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), stressed the importance of protecting women in family settings.

She urged the community to stand united against GBV and create safe environments for women to thrive.

“Women are the backbone of our society. Protecting them from violence is not just a moral duty; it is a necessary step toward sustainable development,” she said.

The chairs are expected to provide a much-needed economic lifeline to the group, allowing them to diversify their activities and strengthen their table banking initiatives.

As the women celebrated their new venture, their voices echoed one shared sentiment—gratitude and hope for a brighter future, thanks to the support of the Jiwo Mwanadada Foundation.
