The accident occurred as Odira was returning from church when his motorbike collided with another coming from Kisii, resulting in severe head injuries.
How did Pastor Ken Odira die?
Odira’s sister, Beryl Odira, expressed her shock and sorrow over the sudden loss of her brother. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she recounted the series of events following the accident:

“His motorbike collided with another one in Oyugis. He was rushed to Agoro Sare District Hospital, but they could not manage, leading to his transfer to Oasis Hospital in Kisii. Due to his critical condition, Oasis then referred him to Tenwek Hospital, where he couldn’t undergo surgery due to his level of unconsciousness. He died before receiving treatment.”

“The doctors told us the impact was so severe on his brain that he could not be helped. That is how he died on the morning of Sunday, November 3,” Odira’s close friend, Evance Chiro, added.
The deceased, also a solo artist, was studying theology at Bugema University, Uganda while serving as a pastor at Misida District in Rangwe, where he was highly regarded for his inspiring teachings and sermons.
Beryl shared that her brother had been preparing to formalise his marriage plans.
“We are heartbroken. My brother was to pay dowry for his fiancée today before his wedding in March 2025. He was so promising, and this caught us unawares,” she said.
Pastor Ken Odira’s body has been moved from Tenwek Hospital to the Gendia Mission Hospital mortuary for further examinations.
