Governor Gladys Wanga has sacked Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo over alleged gross misconduct.
The development comes amid allegations of sexual misconduct within the corridors of power involving senior county officials.
Yesterday, Odhiambo told Sunday Standard that he was yet to receive the letter and claimed he only heard about it on social media.
He claimed he is on leave until April 15th and dismissed claims that he was involved in an illicit affair with a county official.
“I am not aware of any disciplinary actions against me. The allegations are false,” he said.
“If I was involved in any indiscipline, when was I summoned, and was I given a chance to defend myself? Who is the complainant?” he posed.
A senior county official confirmed to The Standard that the Chief of Staff has been terminated from his role.
In the letter dated March 28, 2025, Governor Wanga stated that his service as a Chief of Staff was no longer attainable. The letter, however, does not specify the specific offense Odhiambo committed.
“I take great exception that your recent conduct, through your acts of commission and/or omission, amounting to gross misconduct, unethical conduct and/or insubordination, has brought disrepute and dishonour not only to your office, but most regrettably to the county government of Homa Bay and notably to the office of the governor,” read the letter.
For the last week, social media trolls and influencers had a field day mocking senior county officials over alleged sex escapades.
Last week, the former Ramogi FM presenter and manager told a radio talk show that some people were hellbent on tainting his reputation.
He said some people had claimed that he had been killed while others were alleging that he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital after he was attacked.
“I hear people say a lot about me. Some of them say I have been killed, and some of them say I am in the ICU. Do I look like a sick person?” Odhiambo posed.
