Homa Bay – Eight individuals, including the centre manager, invigilators, BOG teachers, and other officials from Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay County, were arrested on Monday, November 4, for allegedly photocopying an exam paper.

The incident took place on the school premises, where the suspects were found attempting to replicate a chemistry paper for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Speaking exclusively with TUKO.co.ke, Homa Bay Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner Emmanuel Kiplagat confirmed that the suspects, all connected to the exam centre, were detained after being caught in the act.

“Some teachers were found photocopying exam papers, and all eight suspects are now in custody,” Kiplagat stated, noting that all evidence was seized by the police.

Among those apprehended were key figures responsible for maintaining exam integrity, including the centre manager and several invigilators.

Kiplagat emphasised that education authorities are intensifying efforts to prevent such incidents, with law enforcement closely monitoring to ensure strict compliance with exam regulations.

He assured the public and the education community that any involvement in exam irregularities would be met with legal action.

“We will arrest anyone who attempts to engage in exam malpractice,” he declared, adding that while the photocopied papers did not reach the classroom, the arrested individuals were nonetheless implicated in the wrongdoing.

Furthermore, Kiplagat announced that there would be changes in examination leadership at the school, affecting security personnel, invigilators, and the centre manager.

The suspects are currently remanded at Homa Bay Police Station.
