The Government has released Sh294.5 million to support 109,072 households across eight arid counties under the Hunger Safety Net Programme (HSNP).
The funds, disbursed through the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), will be accessible to beneficiaries via Kenya Commercial Bank and Equity Bank agents and branches starting Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
According to NDMA, Mandera received the highest allocation of Sh59.6 million for 22,102 households, followed by Marsabit at Sh55 million and Wajir at Sh51.7 million.
Other allocations include Turkana (Sh43.5m), Garissa (Sh24.8m), Samburu (Sh21.9m), Tana River (Sh19.8m) and Isiolo (Sh17.8m).
Each registered household is entitled to a monthly stipend of Sh2,700. NDMA urged beneficiaries facing payment challenges to visit their nearest bank branch to update their details.

The HSNP is part of the Kenya Social and Economic Inclusion Project (KSEIP) under the Government’s wider Inua Jamii social protection programme, aimed at cushioning vulnerable families in drought-hit regions.
