ASP Boniface Mutua, a senior sergeant in the police service, who suffered life-changing injuries while on duty, has been given a new lease of life.

Mutua was given a specially designed electric wheelchair meant to empower him to continue serving with enhanced mobility and independence.

Police Officer Sammy Ondimu told TUKO.co.ke that DIG-APS Gilbert Masengeli facilitated the initiative in partnership with Medical Administrators Kenya Limited.

“It’s a life-changing tool that allows him to remain an active and productive member of the police service,” he said.

Ondimu added that the special wheelchair means that Mutua can continue his commitment to duty despite his physical limitations.

Admitting that he had never seen such a wheelchair before, Ondimu expressed amazement at its capabilities.

Mutua’s wife stuck by his side

The police officer underscored how such advancements in assistive technology can transform the lives of individuals with disabilities.

He shared photos of the handover, capturing a powerful embrace between Mutua and his devoted wife.

Ondimu highlighted the inspiring aspects of Mutua’s journey, noting his wife’s unwavering dedication.

“She has stood by him despite the challenging circumstances brought on by his injuries,” he reiterated.
