He claimed they have been unable to secure platforms to speak while engaging with the public because of their decision to oust him.
The recently ousted deputy president suggested that this voter backlash is a response to what he termed as the MPs’ betrayal of the people’s trust.
“These days I find it amusing how MPs don’t get a chance to speak because their behaviour in Parliament angered the people. Nowadays, they’re not given the floor to address the public,” Gachagua remarked.
However, Gachagua reserved praise for Kiambu senator Karungo Paul Thangwa, Juja MP George Koimburi and his Githunguri counterpart Gathoni Wamuchomba.
Gachagua’s sentiments come as some Mt Kenya MPs shared their challenges in engaging with their constituents, who’ve expressed discontent over their impeachment vote.

What is Gachagua’s message to Mt Kenya residents
He further dismissed the notion that he lacked grassroots support, pointing out that Mt Kenya residents traditionally do not resort to street demonstrations but instead quietly observe and remember injustices.
Gachagua went down memory lane as he reminded Mt Kenya, residents of periods they faced injustices, adding that their day will come.
“Our people, is there anything you don’t know? Just observe and stay very quiet. Don’t say anything just yet. You know, people were saying that Gachagua has no supporters in Mt Kenya; they wondered why people weren’t coming out onto the streets, lighting fires, or making noise. But that’s not our way. We don’t go out onto the streets. Just because we’re quiet doesn’t mean we’re blind, but there will come a day when we do what’s needed.
Do you not know what day that will be? For now, just stay quiet and endure. We were oppressed by colonialists, and we endured but never forgot…Moi oppressed us for 24 years, and we didn’t forget. Even now, we haven’t forgotten. For now, just stay calm and go about your business, the day will come,” Gachagua advised.
