Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission official John Lorionokou has been nominated as the registrar of political parties.
If the parliament approves his name after vetting, Lorionokou who was Kisumu County returning officer in the 2017 General Election, will replace Anne Nderitu at the Lion Place based offices who was recently appointed at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as a commissioner.
In the latest nominations by President William Ruto, Ms Claris Awuor Onganga has been named for the chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) after Duncan Oburu declined the nomination.
The names of the nominees have been submitted to the National Assembly for consideration following recommendations from the Public Service Commission.
Ruto also nominated Ms Agatha Wanjiku Wahome as assistant registrar of political parties.
Currently, the Registrar’s office is led in an acting capacity by Ms Sophia Sitati, with Mr Ali Abdullahi Surraw serving as Assistant Registrar in charge of Regulation, Compliance, and Capacity Building.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed confirmed that the President has officially transmitted the nominations to the National Assembly.
