Kakamega – Vihiga County is in mourning following the sudden death of County Secretary Ezekiel Ayiego.
Ayiego collapsed and died instantly at his home in Handidi, Lurambi sub-county, Kakamega, when he went to rest after having supper.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi remembered Ayiego as a dedicated civil servant and educator who impacted the lives of many children throughout his career, eventually rising to the role of chief principal.

“He also served with dedication as the Vihiga county secretary and head of the civil service, leading operations of county government workers in my county. I pass my condolences to his family, Governor Wilber Ottichilo the entire Vihiga county government civil service and the residents. I wish them God’s comfort during this mourning period. Rest well,” Osotsi stated.

Makadara MP George Aladwa also paid tribute to Ayiego, praising his dedication and respect within the community, while praying for strength for the county administration during this difficult time.
“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Vihiga county secretary, Ezekiel Ayiego. You were a dedicated and respected servant, and as a county, we will deeply miss your exemplary leadership. May God grant the family strength and the Vihiga county government led by Governor Ottichilo Wilberforce strength during this difficult moment. May your soul rest in peace,” he said.
Sabatia Constituency MP Clement L. Sloya expressed his deepest condolences, describing Ayiego’s tireless service and leadership as an inspiration.
Sloya emphasised that Ayiego’s integrity and commitment have left a lasting mark on the county, encouraging others to continue working for the betterment of the people.
