Equity Bank Responds After Night Fire Razes Down Branch


Equity Bank has confirmed a fire outbreak at its Othaya branch in Nyeri county.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 23, the lender said the incident was reported at 1:30am.

The bank noted that the fire was put out after Wells Fargo, the Nyeri fire department, and the police responded.

“We wish to notify you that there was a fire incident at our Othaya branch, which was reported at 1.30am following a fire detector alarm. Wells Fargo responded, the Nyeri fire department and local police were notified and responded. The fire has been put out,” it stated.

Equity Bank advised its Othaya Branch customers to access banking services at its Kiria-ini, Nyeri or Mukurweini branches.

Alternatively, it recommended that customers could access banking services through its USSD code, online banking or through its apps.

“You can also access your account by: Dialing *247#, Equitel, Equity mobile app, online banking (Equity online), cards or ATMs,” it added.
