Tragedy struck Egerton University over the weekend when Brian Muriungi, a first-year psychology student drowned at the Njoro Caves waterfall.

The young student was reportedly enjoying an outing with friends near the scenic waterfall on Sunday when the incident occurred.

Nipashe Campus Flavour reports that the class representative was well-liked among his peers.

Muriungi was known for his leadership and enthusiasm, a role he embraced passionately despite being in his first year.

Details indicate that Muriungi was swept away by the strong currents while attempting to swim.

Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful.

Fellow students and staff at Egerton University were left in shock and mourning upon hearing the devastating news.

Social media users expressed condolences to Muriungi’s family, friends, and classmates.

Many called the youngster’s death a tragic loss for the entire university community.
