Nairobi – The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed a viral letter about summons to Nark Kenya leader Martha Karua.

On Wednesday, October 30, the rumours spread after a poster, allegedly from a reputable media outlet, suggested the summons were related to Karua’s recent remarks regarding recent abductions in the country.

According to the fake poster, Karua was allegedly required to appear before the DCI headquarters to clarify her claims that the government was behind recent cases of abductions and killings.

‘’The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken urgent note of your recent public statement, issued on Sunday 27th October 2024, in the company of Chief Justice Emeritus Willy Mutunga, Hon. Kabando wa Kabando, among others. You raised serious allegations of a resurgence of targeted abductions, disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.

‘’Of particular concern is your reference to specific operatives and locations purportedly linked to these incidents, suggesting a highly organized, clandestine group acting outside established security channels,’’ the fake letter read.

The DCI, however, swiftly responded by debunking the claims on its official social media platforms.

It shared the viral poster with a bold “fake” stamp across it, urging the public to disregard the misleading information.
