According to a statement witnessed by TUKO.co.ke, Jumaisi, who was apprehended earlier this year, denied the charges, alleging that DCI officers coerced him to accept responsibility.

On August 20, 2024, Jumaisi escaped from the highly secure Muthaiga Police Station alongside 12 Eritrean detainees.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking the public’s help in providing information that could assist in the re-arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha. He was scheduled to be charged with murder but escaped from police custody on Monday, August 20,” said DCI in a statement.

Reports later revealed that two suspects allegedly bribed police officers to facilitate the escape, sparking an extensive but so far unsuccessful two-month search.

To expedite his rearrest, the DCI has issued a renewed cash reward for any information leading to Jumaisi’s capture, providing additional details on his background to aid in identification.

The DCI has urged anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward as efforts intensify to locate him.

“A significant cash reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest. The suspect is from Shiru sub-location, Shaviringa location, Hamisi sub-county in Vihiga. Information on the suspect’s whereabouts can be reported confidentially to the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203,” added the statement.
