Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will shortly present the 2025/2026 National budget before Parliament. 

Ahead of the reading, a series of activities were taking place within Nairobi.

Surprisingly Mbadi made his way to parliament an hour before his expected time of arrival,catching house leadership unaware

12.30 pm: Demonstrators fill the streets of Nairobi in protest of the killing of blogger and teacher, Albert Ojwang.

1:00 pm: Metres away, a choir began entertainment ahead of a procession to Parliament. 

1:30 pm: Treasury CS John Mbadi at the steps of the Treasury Headquarters in Nairobi, briefcase in hand. 

1:38 pm: Mbadi is escorted to Parliament, heavy security in tow. 

1.46 pm: Mbadi arrives at Parliament.

1:57 pm:  Police officers stand guard outside the Parliament entrance.

2.00 pm: Anti-riot police on horses guard the parliament building.

2.02 pm: A police helicopter spotted conducting aerial surveillance over the Parliament buildings.

2.35 pm: Sergeant at arms escorts speaker to parliament.

2.40 pm: Speaker welcomes members to the House and opens the session formally.

1 pm-3 pm: Police engage protesters in running battles within the CBD.

2.50 pm-2.55 pm: Members of Parliament demand answers from top police bosses over the death of Albert Ojwang. 

3.07 pm: Mbadi arrives inside the parliament chambers.

3.15 pm: CS Mbadi takes the stand, begins reading the 2025/2026 budget.
